“You Don’t Have to Work for Someone Else”

Jonathan Burdon and Sam Toby of SocialCoaster talk about the choice to work in a startup. For Toby, who turned down the chance to take over the family business to do something different with his life, working in a startup has been challenging and fulfilling: “Sometimes it’s about getting in over your head to figure out where you stand.”

Burdon adds that if there’s one message he’d like to get across to students in high school and college it’s that “you don’t have to work for somebody else.”

In an earlier video, Burdon explains the importance of flexibility and why making “it” work can sometimes be a bad idea.
