Read this great quote from serial entrepreneur and risk taker extraordinaire, Richard Branson, on an often overlooked part of being an entrepreneur.

You don’t learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing and falling over.

The vast majority of Apple’s revenue is derived from devices that didn’t exist seven or eight years ago. The iPhone, for example, essentially created a whole new product category, the smartphone. So while there are certainly no guarantees that YOUR idea will succeed, it’s worth remembering that with the right idea, timing and execution, you, the rule breaker, might wind up being the rule maker.
