Economic Development Intern
If you’re an energetic self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, the Kentucky Innovation Network Headquarters is seeking you as an intern. This position offers the student great opportunities to gain experience in business and economic development, as well as interact with regional business and government leaders.
Job Description: This position provides support for the Economic Development Department.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Assist Economic Development team, with research projects.
Gather data on businesses and target industries in state, and regions.
Entrepreneurship & Information Services in maintaining database of target businesses and industries.
Review local media and maintain list of Network mentions.
Provide assistance with special projects as assigned.
Project-specific external and internal communications outreach.
Maintenance/enhancement of social media and networking presence.
Prepare news summaries (from news clips, blogs, etc.)
Assist with event planning.
Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes
Able to effectively use MS Office products.
Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable.
Able to adjust to changing priorities and deadlines.
Professional and positive attitude.
Reports to: The Innovation Network Headquarters team
Required Education: Junior level or higher seeking a Bachelor’s Degree enrolled in College/University or a currently enrolled graduate student.
Travel Required: Yes; most hours will be required in the Lexington area, but some travel may be acceptable on occasion.
Hours: negotiable, 20 minimum; mutually agreeable hours and schedule (including starting and ending dates) to be determined by intern and Network Headquarters.
Other: Applicants must be current students. Business attire or business casual required. This position is paid.
